Project Background
Eleven Paora Apartments is a 5-story, high-end apartment complex located in Auckland City.
Moddex were engaged by Southbase Construction to design, supply and install our handrail and balustrade systems on the egress stair.
The brief required a balustrade system that could fit into a tight stairwell. With a lot of experience in egress stair projects, our highly skilled team stared down the challenges and provided a fit for purpose solution by customising some of the fixing components of our balustrade system to ensure our solution was a perfect fit on site.
Why was Moddex selected?
Total ownership from site measure through to install
By choosing Moddex, Southbase Construction had piece of mind that this handrail and balustrade package was in safe hands.
Moddex took care of the handrail and balustrades from the quoting stage right through to installation. Our end-to-end process ensured a level of certainty for the project manager that a full, fit for purpose solution was what they were getting.
One part of our end-to-end process that is especially effective, particularly on complex egress stair projects, is our two-phase design process. This process includes design intent drawings that are checked against as built measurements on site, followed by detailed shop drawings for production.
Our design intent drawing is a snapshot of the proposed installation, shown in 3D from different angles with all the dimensions clearly detailed. This provides a visual check for the client that everything is correct and allows for early identification of design or compliance issues for our team that may arise.
Once the design intent drawing is signed off, our design team proceed with shop drawings and a detailed installation set out.
Less Time on Site
At the end of many jobs, deadlines become tight, so delays are not an option. Time is money in construction, and the less time spent on site, the better.
Our pre-engineered modular handrail and balustrade systems were designed and manufactured inhouse, then sent to site as a kitset. This made installation easy to manage on site, with no hot work permits or welding required. Our install teams were in and out within a few days, causing no delays.
