Is Tuffrail compliant with Australian Standard AS 1657?
Yes. Tuffrail is designed and meticulously tested to comply with Australian Standard AS 1657:2018. It meets all stringent requirements for fixed platforms, walkways, stairways, and ladders, including specifications for guardrailing heights, hand clearances, and structural load capacities.

Is Tuffrail an NZS 1657 compliant handrail system?
Yes. For New Zealand industrial sites, Tuffrail is fully compliant with NZS 1657:1992. It adheres to all safety requirements concerning edge protection, guardrailing, and handrailing. Moddex also supplies Producer Statement (PS1) documents to streamline your New Zealand building consent and certification process.

Does Tuffrail provide protection against falling objects?
Yes. For applications where there is open access beneath a walkway or platform, Tuffrail offers configurations (such as the TR25 and TR35) that incorporate the innovative Tuffgard® Toeboard. This creates a fully compliant physical barrier to prevent tools, debris, or materials from falling and injuring workers below.

What material options are available for highly corrosive environments?
To combat rust caused by chemical fumes, wastewater, or coastal sea spray, Tuffrail is available in three highly durable materials: Hot Dip Galvanized Steel, Mill Finish Aluminium, and 316 Grade Stainless Steel. Because the system is 100% weld-free, the protective surface of these materials is never compromised during installation.

Does Tuffrail come in Safety Yellow?
Yes. Tuffrail offers a high-visibility Y14 Safety Yellow powder coat (Dulux Duralloy) finish that is kept in stock for rapid dispatch. For highly corrosive industrial or mining applications requiring color-matching, Moddex also offers a Wet Spray 2-pack polyurethane paint system (PC SYS 3).

Does Tuffrail require on-site welding for installation?
No. Tuffrail is a completely modular, weld-free industrial handrail system. This completely eliminates the need for hazardous hot-works permits, allowing for safe, continuous installation even in operational warehouses, manufacturing plants, or volatile chemical environments.

Can Tuffrail be integrated with commercial or disability handrails?
Yes. To provide comprehensive edge protection across complex sites, Tuffrail is designed to seamlessly integrate with the Moddex Conectabal® (commercial balustrades) and Assistrail® (disability handrails) systems.
