Within the Greater Flagstone PDA – approximately 16 kilometres north of Beaudesert, you will find the Cedar Grove Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP).
Due to the predicted future growth of around 120,000 people within the Logan area by 2050, the new greenfield wastewater treatment plant was designed to service the population and developments. The plant was engineered to operate to strict environmental standards, achieving a net environmental benefit for the local river and catchment area.
The infrastructure was constructed in two sections: the 10km long pipeline between Greenbank and Flagstone, and the second section connecting the 9km stretch from Flagstone to the Cedar Grove WWTP. Four pump stations were also along the route combination of open trench, tunnel boring and horizontal directional drilling (HDD) construction methods.
Moddex were selected by Downer Joint Venture and Logan City Council Water Infrastructure Alliance to supply compliant handrails with toeboards to all stairs, elevated walkways and platforms of the Treatment Plant.
Why was Moddex product selected?
The flexibility of Moddex’s pre-engineered systems enabled the work teams to work autonomously and install on-the-fly around varying site availability.
Due to the highly corrosive environment, Moddex supplied the proprietary Tuffrail® range in aluminium. Our marine-grade aluminium rails have a high corrosion resistance are engineered to withstand extreme conditions; meaning less maintenance required.
Also, with lightweight and modular nature, the handrails and balustrades could be installed fast and efficiently around other trades on-site. This simple handling is a unique benefit when working in confined spaces.
