The Foodstuffs North Island Distribution centre is New Zealand’s largest office and distribution Centre. At a massive 65,000sq m, the distribution centre was constructed to accommodate the grocery cooperative’s rapid growth.
Moddex were privileged to be a part of this project, supplying handrails and balustrades to different locations on the project.
Why was the moddex product selected?
Moddex worked with the architect in early stages of the project, establishing a thorough understanding of the scope of works, including budget, intended application and deadline for delivery. We were able to offer a pre-engineered, fit for purpose solution along with compliance documentation (PS1). The architect was able to save time and money with the Moddex systems, as the readily available compliance documentation meant building consent and council sign-off was a lot easier.
They could also utilize the Moddex CAD files which saved hours of time for the architect who would usually have to design a bespoke system from scratch.
The modular build also meant different systems could be integrated together easily whilst still ensuring the site was compliant and safe for users. On the access ramp to the Operations Office, 3 handrail systems were integrated – Our AR150 which transitioned into our AR50, then into our AR70 system. Despite the change in systems, the handrail still flowed smoothly and meet all compliance standards.
