Project Overview

Singleton Rugby Club’s recent grandstand redevelopment project is an asset that the sporting community with enjoy for many decades to come.

Overlooking the home field of the Singleton Bulls, the new covered grandstand facility seats up to 440 spectators and features a new kiosk, change rooms, gym area, toilet facilities, storeroom, and a training and rehabilitation room, providing significant benefits to the Club and the local community.

Moddex is pleased to have played our part in the supply and installation of our modular Assistrail® disability handrails to the ground-level access ramps, custom stadium seating grab rails and an extensive Conectabal® commercial balustrade to the upper grandstand level of the building, specifically designed and fabricated to meet the crowd-loading requirements for grandstands in accordance with Australian Standard 1170.1-2002.

Funded by multiple NSW Government grants, the new grandstand facility replaces two old seating stands, and an amenities block built in the 1970s, vastly improving the Club’s capacity to accommodate club members and visitors safely and comfortably.

Award-winning contractor Lahey Constructions oversaw the completion of the grandstand construction project in mid-2022.

Balustrade Compliance for Crowd Loading Applications – Australian Standard AU/NZS 1170.1-2002

For structures that are susceptible to over-crowding such as sporting stadiums, grandstands, theaters, bars or shopping malls, barrier systems like balustrades must comply with minimum imposed actions for barriers of 3.0kN/m, as per C5 in Table 3.3 of AU/NZS 1170.1-2002.

Moddex Conectabal® – Commercial Balustrades are a turnkey solution for designers, builders and project managers searching to achieve compliance for projects that demand crowd-loading compliance.

What is a crowd-loaded balustrade? A barrier rated for crowd loading is typically designed and fabricated from thicker wall piping, larger size droppers, 4-hole baseplates, and narrower stanchion spacing, among other specification requirements that are customisable to each project.

Assistrail® Disability Handrails – The Turnkey DDA Compliant Solution

Conveniently located at the disability car parking at the rear of the grandstand, a wheelchair/disability access ramp with DDA-compliant handrails was designed and constructed to enable easy and safe navigation of the new amenities.

Delivering peace of mind, Assistrail® Disability Handrails provide guaranteed compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA)
