The Nga Puna Wai Sports Hub was built to replace a number of earthquake damaged sports facilities in Christchurch. The facility includes athletics track and fields, hockey pitches, tennis courts, rugby league fields and multi-purpose community fields.
The $53.65 million multi-sports facility was made possible with strong support from the wider Christchurch recreational and sporting community.
After 90% of submissions from a public consultation in 2014 were in favour of a sports hub at Nga Puna Wai, the Council made the decision to proceed with the project.
Moddex NZ worked alongside contractor Hawkins Construction on the rugby league field grandstand, overcoming the complexities of C5 crowd loaded balustrading, integrated lighting, wiring and a lot of varying ramp angles to deliver a superb modular handrail & balustrade package for the Christchurch City Council.
Why was Moddex product selected?
Moddex NZ offered a complete compliant solution including incorporation of the clients specific lighting requirements.
Part of the advantage in Moddex’s modular, galvanized steel, powder-coated rails is that different systems can be seamlessly connected – one crowd-loaded and the other not. This flexibility allowed for the required engineering standards to be met, while keeping the same look throughout the stadium and keeping to budget
