Over 800 delegates and more than 70 exhibitors gathered in Brisbane last week for the Future of Construction Summit 2025. What stood out most wasn’t just the scale, but the shift in tone.
This wasn’t a conversation about what might happen. It was about what’s already working, what’s scaling up, and how the construction industry is actually moving faster and smarter, right now.
Modern Methods Are No Longer Optional
One of the strongest themes throughout FCON was the rise of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC). From DfMA and prefabrication to modular systems and offsite manufacturing, these are no longer future strategies. They’re the current reality of construction that are helping project teams managing tight schedules, constrained sites, labour shortages, and compliance demands.
The conversation has shifted. Project success now hinges on how much can be solved before getting to site – and that’s where Moddex plays a key role.
We’ve always believed early thinking and systemised design unlock better outcomes. Our pre-engineered, modular handrail and barrier systems are designed to be integrated from day one. When Moddex is brought in early, install time drops, rework disappears, because compliance is built in.
Integrated Planning Is Taking Over
Another clear insight from FCON: the days of siloed delivery are numbered. The most successful projects are those where estimation, design, procurement, and delivery are aligned from the outset.
That’s how we work at Moddex. Our pre-configured kits, BIM-ready models, and fast local manufacturing support better coordination from the start – closing the gap between design intent and installation reality.
It’s this kind of early integration that helps prevent issues before they reach the site.
Digital Tools Are Now Business-as-Usual
Digital tools and workflows were another consistent thread throughout the event. BIM, modelling, and systemised content are no longer “nice-to-haves”, they’re essential for reducing rework and driving better decision-making early in the process.
According to the 2025 State of Digital Adoption in Construction report by Deloitte and Autodesk:
- 73% of businesses are using or moving toward prefab and modular systems
- 71% are adopting BIM workflows
- 85% of those using BIM report strong ROI
We’re seeing the same trend at Moddex. Demand for our BIM content and digital tools continues to rise, as more teams look for reliable, compliance-ready inputs to streamline their delivery.
Our FCON 2025 Takeaways
What made FCON valuable wasn’t just the ideas, it was the practical mindset behind them. These weren’t blue-sky conversations. They were grounded in what’s being implemented now including modular systems, digitised planning, and tighter coordination from the start.
It reinforced what we already know at Moddex: when you start smart, everything else runs smoother.
We believe great systems don’t stand out – they simply work, so your project runs better around them.
