Specification has and always will play a critical role in shaping construction outcomes. Even as the industry has become more digitalised, the importance of accurate specification should not be undervalued.
Masterspec is New Zealand’s leading specification system in the construction industry. It’s online platform makes the specification processes easier and adaptable to any project.
Masterspec Managing Editor, Alex Shaw who has been an architect for 42 years said, “I have always been interested in the role that specifications play in a project, and realised quite early on that the specification can save you if there is any conflict amongst the construction team, especially when it comes to product substitutions and performance standards…Many architects don’t realise that a quality specification holds for the life of the building, often through to demolition, and can protect the Architect and their practice”.
Moddex has been a product partner with Masterspec for years. In this article, we’d like to share how you can take full advantage of Masterspec and make its functionality work for you!
Masterspec’s New Feature: Work Section Support
Make specification witting easy and effective with Work Section Support.
Masterspec have developed this revolutionary feature called Masterspec Work Section Support, which enables you as the designer to have the option of selecting a contact icon, where you can request your supplier’s assistance to execute specification tasks, including the option to edit, comment and replace Work Sections.
Masterspec has introduced the option to involve the supplier into the specification writing process to create greater efficiency. It makes perfect sense to give suppliers the ability to partake in this important stage.
For example, when writing your handrail and balustrade requirements, simply request assistance from Moddex (#4852ME) and our trusted Design Team will write the handrail and balustrade requirements directly into your project specification. Follow our step-by-step Work Section Support Allocation Guide and see the benefits for yourself!
This new feature provides specifiers with peace-of-mind with improved communication and accuracy by going straight to the source of the suppliers product specifications from one platform. We believe that these improvements ultimately leads to better building outcomes, with less delays and reduced costs from design to construction.
Live Chat
Another useful addition to the Masterspec platform is the live chat window displayed in the section workspace. Providing live communication and the ability to share images equates to a more refined clarification of design, questions and advice.
Working with Moddex
Working with Moddex on Masterspec is now even easier and more efficient, thanks to the added interactivity between the specifier and product provider.
