Federal Group, a trusted provider of innovative construction and engineering solutions, was the contractor on this project. Moddex was involved with the design, supply & installation of the ramp and handrails into the retail area of the building.
Woodhams Meikle Zhan Architects specified Moddex for the ramp and handrails. Rather than drawing ramp and handrails from scratch, Moddex offered a standard system that did not require extensive design work. This saved the architect time and provided peace of mind that the system complied with the required standards. The Moddex galvanised handrail and ramp system could provide anti-slip properties, strength and long-lasting durability.
During the design stage, the team encountered a challenge, where they discovered that the location of the door on site was different to the architectural drawings. The location of the door also meant the legs of the ramp had to be mounted on top of an I-beam retaining wall, which presented an additional challenge. This required the Moddex system to be modified to suit the sites requirements. The Moddex and Federal Group teams were able to make changes quickly, and installed a custom mounting angle plate on top of the retaining wall, which allowed the Moddex ramp legs to be bolted into place, ensuring the ramp’s stability and compliance with standards.
