Project Overview
Beaumaris North Primary School received $500,000 in funding to improve accessibility and upgrade ramps across the campus. Designed by Henderson & Lodge Architects for the Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA), the project delivered two new ramps and refurbished access points including compliant balustrades and handrail. Moddex was specified on the plans and engaged by GRN Built to supply and install modular handrail, balustrade and ramp systems.
The Moddex Solution
Moddex delivered a complete accessibility package featuring Ezibilt™ ramps supported by Assistrail® handrails, and Conectabal® commercial balustrade systems. Two new Ezibilt™ adjustable ramps — one switchback and one L-shaped — were installed with Flexalyte kerbrail, Ekodeck composite decking and Duratec Eco Hazard Tiles to achieve full DDA compliance. The balustrade system provided dual height handrails to meet NCC and VSBA requirements for primary schools and was securely fixed to existing timber posts using proprietary Moddex fittings. All systems were prefabricated, hot dip galvanised and installed without welding, supplied with Reg 126 certification and built for long term durability and easy maintenance.
