Custom Ezibilt Access Platform Speeds Installation at New Truck Wash Facility
As part of the development of a new truck wash facility, an elevated working platform was required to mount and operate two water monitors (cannons), which are used to wash out spoil stuck in truck and trailer bins. Civil Logic sought a fast, compliant, and adaptable solution that could be quickly implemented without compromising on safety or durability.
Civil Logic selected Moddex to design and supply a working platform using the Ezibilt system—an ideal solution offering rapid installation, easy adaptation to site conditions, and full compliance with all relevant standards.
“I first came across Moddex at their stand at the WaterNZ conference in Wellington in 2023” said Kane Jolly, Owner of Civil logic, “I looked into the product as part of the design and build process for the truck wash facility, and the lead time for delivery offered was quicker than local design and fabrication.”
The Challenge
One of the primary challenges on this project was the sloping ground at the installation site. This required a stair and platform system that could be adapted to varying heights while maintaining stability and compliance.
Additionally, the elevated platform had to be designed to support two large water cannons used in truck and trailer bin cleaning—an operation that required both structural integrity and safe, convenient access for operators.
Traditional design and fabrication methods would have added significant lead time and potentially more on-site complexity. A faster, modular solution was needed – and that is where Moddex came in to help.
Moddex Solution
Working directly with the design/build contractor, Civil Logic, our team adapted our Ramp, Stair and Platform system, Ezibilt™, to meet the specific requirements by the client.
The key advantage of the Ezibilt system is that it can be utilised and adapted to suit unique site conditions. With adjustable legs and stringers accommodating slopes between 24° and 38°, Ezibilt™ and can be adjusted for various heights.
The design process involved precise engineering assessments, including a site inspection by our engineer. During this evaluation, we identified the need to increase the footing size by 12% to safely support a maximum platform height of 2250mm under a 2.5kPa live load.
Another standout feature of the Moddex Ezibilt system was its lightweight, modular components, which significantly simplified the installation process. The platform was easily assembled and installed by just two people, reducing labour requirements and streamlining the overall project timeline.
