Project overview
One Tree Hill College in Penrose, Auckland has opened a new two-storey classroom block to support continued roll growth. Delivered by Form Building and Development, the new block includes six classrooms, including two purpose-built science laboratories, with Moddex engaged to design, supply and install the balustrade package.
The Moddex solution
FlatBal™ was used throughout the new block to create a consistent balustrade finish across both level and raked areas. In total, Moddex supplied approximately 68 lineal metres of FB10 and FB40, finished in HDG600 and designed for C1/C2 loading.
FB10 was used for the level balustrade, while FB40 added the offset handrail needed on the stairs and landings. Using the two configurations together meant the design could stay visually consistent while still responding to the different access requirements across the building.
FlatBal™ was delivered as a modular, no-weld kit system, helping make installation more straightforward and reducing the need for onsite fabrication.
