Project overview
As part of a multimillion-dollar capital works project, Laburnum Primary School underwent a significant upgrade, replacing ageing portable classrooms with ten new learning spaces. Delivered by Newton Manor Constructions, the project was backed by the local community’s fundraising efforts and marked an important milestone in educational infrastructure for the school. Completed in 2025, the project also became the first to use Moddex’s new FlatBal™ flat bar balustrade system.
Moddex solution
Moddex was engaged by Newton Manor Constructions to supply handrail and balustrade systems across the school upgrade. At the time, Moddex had been developing a new pre-engineered flat bar balustrade system in response to growing demand for architectural finishes with the benefits of offsite prefabrication. Laburnum Primary School provided the ideal opportunity to bring FlatBal™ to market.
Working closely with the project team, Moddex delivered a fully integrated, pre-approved barrier solution using FlatBal™ and Assistrail® products, including FB10, FB50 and AR160 configurations. The result was a cohesive, compliant and visually striking barrier package that aligned with the school’s architectural vision while supporting the project’s tight delivery program.
