Project Background:

In early 2017, Bridge 90 was demolished due to being badly damaged in the 2016 Kaikoura Earthquake. As a result of this, a temporary bridge was built to enable KiwiRail to get specialised construction work trains to the Kaikoura Coast. In October 2019, a permanent replacement bridge was built adjacent to the temporary structure and the temporary bridge was dismantled.

As part of the replacement Moddex worked alongside NCTIR to supply and install 30m of handrailing along both sides of the bridge.

Products/configurations used on project:

Tuffrail – TR30

Why was Moddex product selected?

Our modular, no-weld system meant that the need for hot work permits, fires spotters and welding zones on site was eliminated, resulting in quick and safe installation. Our modular systems meant our product went to site flat packed, resulting in install time around 30% faster with product coming to site flat packed and ready to go.

Client Feedback

“The Moddex system was very easy to install and the design process was simple. We are very happy with the results.”
