Project Background:

With a estimated population growth of an additional 9 million people expected for Sydney by 2056, the NSW Government has invested $600 million to build the M4 Smart Motorway project, delivering intelligent technology to the 35-kilometre high-use stretch of the M4 Motorway between Pitt Street, Parramatta and Mulgoa Road, Penrith.
The new Intelligent Transport System (ITS) uses real time information, instantaneous communication and smart traffic management systems that work together to alleviate congestion and reduce stop-start traffic, efficiently manage incidents and improve overall road safety and travel times. The project is praised as the first smart motorway of its kind in NSW, to be fully completed 2021.
Moddex was contracted at various stages of the M4 Smart Motorway project, to supply our innovative modular Bikesafe® Bikeway Barriers to the footpaths along the motorway.
Bikesafe® Bikeway Barriers are designed to deliver optimal safety and absolute compliance for pedestrians and cyclists travelling at speed. Designed to prevent or mitigate injury with their smooth, continuous top rails and curved sections, the Bikesafe® systems are quick and easy to install.
