Project Background

Koombana Drive is a highly trafficked route that runs from Eaton to the Bunbury CBD. It is also one of the most popular routes for cyclists.

In urgent need of repair, the road was upgraded in 2016 as part of one of the biggest infrastructure projects carried out by the city in recent years. A new roundabout was also constructed, as well as, the construction of cycle lanes and installation of new lighting for pedestrians

A much-needed upgrade to Bunbury’s key entry into the central business district was officially unveiled last Wednesday with work on Koombana Drive and the new George Baxter Promenade coming to an end.

The Koombana Drive upgrade was the first stage in a significant redevelopment of the Koombana Bay area.

Products/configurations used on project

Bikeway Barrier Bikesafe BS30

Why was Moddex product selected?

The bikeway barrier originally considered was a traditional, wholly fabricated balustrading system that would arrive on-site as a complete unit.

The roadside barrier and the bikeway barrier ended up being a split package and Moddex was able to propose a cost-effective & robust solution to fit within the tight deadlines.

Moddex has previously worked with the City of Bunbury and we work able to work with the clients’ schedule to ensure our installers could provide quick installation.
