Project Overview
As part of the new Western Treatment Plant Resource Recovery & Re-Use Complex, a joint partnership between Melbourne Water and John Holland Group, Moddex was engaged to deliver compliant access solution. Our scope included the design, supply and installation of industrial handrail systems across walkways and stair platforms surrounding the primary sedimentation tanks, ensuring worker safety and long-term operational integrity at one of Australia’s largest wastewater treatment sites.
The Challenge
Operating in a harsh, high-moisture water treatment environment presented a unique set of challenges. Continuous exposure to humidity, treatment chemicals and heavy foot traffic required a system that could minimise maintenance and deliver reliable, long-term performance in an infrastructure asset designed to operate for decades.
Moddex Solution
Moddex supplied and installed aluminium Tuffrail® (TR25) systems with anodised stanchions and powder coated fittings. The anodised finish creates a hard, stable surface that withstands constant exposure to moisture, UV and treatment chemicals. With our pre-engineered, no-weld modular design, installation was completed safely and efficiently without hot works – delivering a durable, low-maintenance system that ensures compliance, extends service life and lowers whole-of-life costs.
