Project Overview
Forge Solutions engaged Moddex to supply Ezibilt™ ramps, stairs and platforms for six new modular staff accommodation units at Biloela Hospital, provided by Saltair Modular, to replace older quarters. Delivered using MMC (Modern Methods of Construction) and funded by the Hospital Rescue Plan, the redevelopment provides modern, comfortable housing for healthcare workers and supports staff attraction and retention in the Biloela region.
The Challenge
The redevelopment was delivered in multiple stages, requiring contractors to work around an active environment with minimal disruption. Traditional welded access systems risked delays because any onsite welding or modifications would need hot works permits and potential shutdowns. A pre-engineered solution aligned with the project’s MMC approach was needed to enable efficient installation alongside other construction activities without introducing site constraints.
Moddex Solution
Moddex supplied 140sqm of pre-engineered ramp, stair and platform systems, both straight ramps and switchback configurations, that were installed onto pre-poured concrete pads. 282 lineal metres of Assistrail® handrail in a Dune powder coated finish, along with Flexalyte kerbrail, were integrated to meet safety and accessibility requirements. The modular nature of Ezibilt™ meant it was easier to incorporate with Saltair Modular’s prefabricated buildings and Forge Solutions’ site works.
