Project Background
The $498 million South Morang Rail Extension project was opened to the public in May 2012. John Holland dealt directly with Moddex to source its safety handrails and guardrails for various applications required along the length of the extension.
The 3.5km railway line extension from Epping is the biggest expansion of Melbourne’s rail network since the City Loop more than 30 years ago.
Products/configurations used on project
Over 2.5 kilometres of Tuffrail TR20 handrail was used on this project to meet the requirements for pedestrian safety and Australian Standards compliance.
Why was Moddex product selected?
Our client was attracted to the rapid delivery of the Moddex barrier systems, being available ex stock and shipped flat packed. Installation was rapidly undertaken due to the modular, innovative design. The installations required no welding or specialist fabrication trades and thus reduced costs and minimised delays.
