Access all areas; a walk in the park for Moddex.
With the recently completed upgrade to Bridges Hill Park in Cessnock, the community now enjoys improved access to this community hub.
The project involved two key components – the first stage being access improvements and the second the Bridges Hill Playground facility upgrade.
To improve access from the Cessnock CBD to Bridges Hill the project included widening footpaths, installing new sandstone retaining walls and building of a concrete stairway that will continue on and provide access to Millfield Street in future stages.
Cessnock mayor Bob Pynsent described the project as a wonderful new asset for the local community and visitors to the area. “This area will be a regional hub, providing a creative and imaginative play space for people of all ages and abilities,” Cr Pynsent said.
This project was partly funded by the National Stronger Regions Fund and the Stronger Country Communities Fund. Cessnock City Council will continue to seek grant opportunities to help fund the later stages of the project.
