Bikesafe® - Bikeway Barriers BS40,

Australia’s Best Modular Barrier Systems Connect At SE Queensland’s Best Kept Secret

Contracted by Queensland Civil Group on behalf of Redlands City Council, Moddex installed 191 lineal metres of Bikesafe® Bikeway Barriers to the pre-existing Redland Bay Shared Bicycle and Walking Path.

The upgrade and extension of bicycle barrier to this shared path project aimed to revitalise and future-proof the popular shared route for future generations. Bikesafe® Barriers ascertain guaranteed compliance with the Austroads Guide to Road Design, Part 6A and 6B.

Considered South East Queensland’s best-kept secret, the Redlands Coast is a spectacular place that exemplifies Australian natural beauty and wildlife. Nestled above Logan City, the City of Gold Coast and just 26 kilometres south-east of the City of Brisbane.

The area boasts a large network of convenient travel options that interconnect communities, and is the gateway to the iconic North Stradbroke Island and the smaller secluded Southern Moreton Bay Islands.

The transportation network includes on-and-off-road walking and cycling paths that connect to buses, trains, ferries and barge terminals throughout the Redland City area. A core reason for the Redland Bay upgrade, was to support commuters and recreational users with a safer travel route.

Spanning over a short foot bridge and continuing on footpath, our pre-engineered cycleway barriers replaced the old welded barriers that were no longer specified for compliance. Specifically designed to help prevent or mitigate injury for both pedestrians and cyclists, our Bikesafe® configuration BS40 was the product for choice. BS40 is a standard full barrier with smooth continuous deflection rails for Austroads compliance, with top rail, handrail and balustrade infill.

End-to-End Specification and Compliance to Austroads

Working with repeat contractor Queensland Civil Group, Moddex overcame design changes quickly and easily. We ensured that all specifications of the project were met, every potential hurdle identified, and found solutions in the design modelling process through our easily adapted modular systems.

“Moddex was very professional. With easily integrated and interpreted designs, ease of installation and streamlined communication from Reception to Accounts. The guaranteed compliance of their product and systematic nature of the company works like a well-oiled machine”, stated the Project Manager post-construction.

Safety is always a top priority at Moddex, and our team are always up-to-date on industry standards and requirements. That why our modular components are designed to inherently comply with the AS/NZS 1657 industry standard, that specifies there should be unrestricted movement on all handrails and guardrails.

Moddex’s modular handrails and balustrades, where absolutely everything fits™, is available Australia and New Zealand wide.

Moddex acknowledges and respects the traditional owners of the Redlands Coast area, including the Nunukul, Nughi and Goenpul Peoples (collectively known as the Quandamooka People).
