Project Overview

The Hurlstone Park Wanderers, a prominent local football club, celebrated the opening of their new state-of-the-art facility at Ewen Park in March, 2024. This marked the club’s first new facility in over 50 years, addressing the needs of a growing membership exceeding 1500 players.

The project was a collaborative effort involving several key stakeholders. RELD Group played a crucial role as the primary contractor, ensuring the project’s seamless execution. Funding and support were provided by the City of Canterbury Bankstown Council, Football Canterbury, and the NSW Government Greater Cities Sport Facilities Fund, each contributing to the realisation of this modern sporting facility.

The new amenities building was inaugurated on March 22, 2024, coinciding with the club’s centenary celebrations. Key figures, including NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper and CEO of Football Canterbury Trent Thomas highlighted the importance of modern facilities for community sports. RELD Group, the client for Moddex, was very satisfied with the results, appreciating Moddex’s efficient processes and budget-friendly solutions.

Superior Powder-Coated Finish

Moddex provided all balustrades and handrails with a superior powder-coated finish. This finish not only enhances the aesthetic appeal but also ensures durability and resistance to harsh weather conditions, which is crucial for the outdoor areas of the Ewen Park facility. As CEO of Football Canterbury Trent Thomas noted, “The investment made by Club, Association, Council, and State Government to bring Ewen Park into the 21st century will mean Hurlstone Park Wanderers can provide for all its participants and for future generations of community footballers.” The high-quality finish contributes to the long-term maintenance and safety of the facility, making it a valuable addition to the project.

DDA-Compliant Access Solutions

Ensuring accessibility was a top priority for the Ewen Park project. Moddex provided DDA-compliant access solutions, using specific products such as Conectabal® Commercial Balustrades CB30 and Assistrail® Disability Handrail AR10 for level and stair applications above one metre, and Conectabal® CB35 for level and ramp applications above one metre. These products guarantee that the facility is accessible to everyone, aligning with the project’s inclusive goals. As NSW Minister for Sport Steve Kamper noted, “The Fund focuses on inclusive projects that encourage the participation of females and people with disability through unisex change rooms or disability access.”

Why was Moddex Chosen?

RELD Group, a returning customer, chose Moddex due to their efficient processes, high-quality, durable and compliant handrails and balustrades and ability to deliver projects under budget. Moddex’s streamlined approach and cost-effective solutions ensured the project was completed within the financial constraints while still maintaining high standards of quality and safety. This successful collaboration among various stakeholders has resulted in a modern, inclusive facility that will serve the community for generations, reinforcing Moddex’s reputation for excellence.
