Project Background
The $66 million upgrade of Ringwood Station and bus interchange has delivered a modern, integrated transport facility to Ringwood.
Works to upgrade the station and expand the bus interchange were delivered by VicRoads on behalf of Public Transport Victoria.
The vibrant new station precinct provides a seamless interchange and is a safer, more accessible and attractive place for people to live, work and visit.
Moddex was selected due to John Holland and Metro Trains familiarity with the product, knowing the benefits (modular, CAD support, availbility of testing and engineering certificates and cost saving) over conventional handrail and balustrades.
Products/configurations used on project
- Disability Handrails Assistrail AR40
- Bikeway Barrier Bikesafe BS40
- Industrial Handrail Tuffrail TR20
Why was Moddex product selected?
The Ringwood Station project presented with some interesting challenges, including a bikepath with a 6 – 8 metre drop – and associated load and height requirements for compliance with Australian Standards. Our technical advisors met with senior engineers on the project and resolved all compliance issues – through modifications to our modular Assistrail, Bikesafe and Tuffrail proprietary configurations.
Time savers. Problem solvers.
Drawing from our range of preconfigured proprietary products – Moddex were able to modify and deliver a 50% off-the-shelf / 50% custom solution within 8 days to site for immediate installation, including black powdercoated Bikesafe barriers where required. From time saving to problem solving – these are just some of the reasons Tier one companies continue to call on Moddex – for industrial handrailing and balustrading solutions.
Load requirement certifications
This highly congested area required the AS1170 Table 3.3 load requirement for compliance. As part of our investment in proprietary systems – our clients benefit from load testing and engineering certificates for guaranteed compliance and peace of mind on public safety.
