Project Background
During 2018, NSW Transport Minister announced Laing O’Rourke would build the new Sydney Metro platforms at Central and Central Walk.
As part of the $955 million project to renew Australia’s busiest commuter hub, Moddex was approached mid-2018 to deliver a handrail and balustrade solution that achieved stringent crowd-loading ratings.
Why was Moddex product selected?
Timing was crucial on this project. Moddex was requested to install the handrails for this public transport project in a narrow window. The pre-engineered, modular system enabled installation lead time to be significantly reduced.
The no-weld solution also eliminated the need for costly, disruptive hot works permits, on-site cutting and welding. Which also meant less noise disturbance and no toxic welding fumes in the public space.
