Project Background
The AJ Hackett Cairns Bungy tower is situated 15kms from Cairns on the foothills of Saddleback Mountain. Standing 50 metres above a 5m-metre-deep pool, the towers’ base is 30m wide and 15m wide at the top.
Weighing 26 tonnes the tower was designed and fabricated in North Queensland and has been operational since 1990.
During 2016, updates were made to the balustrade running along the stairways and landings leading up to the bungy tower, which was previously constructed from stainless steel wire and shade cloth.
Working with FNQ Projects, Moddex was able to provide a balustrade solution to meet BCA/NCC requirements.

Why was Moddex product selected?
Compliance was a critical factor, for the safety of both customers and staff when accessing the bungy tower. By selecting Moddex proprietary systems, compliance was guaranteed and final sign off was easily achieved.
The modular nature of our systems ensures the ability to efficiently install the barriers and provide flexibility to project schedules.
The Moddex CAD Team offered unlimited support and invaluable advice during the design phase of this project. From the outset our team of technical advisors offered direction and recommendations to guarantee compliance with Australian Standard applicable to workers at heights.
