Project Background:
The Iron Gate Bridge is located in a dynamic environment in Kaikoura with the sea on one side and cliffs on the other. Being beside a main highway produced a hazard to the public when the civil works were decommissioned. This created an urgent requirement for a handrail.
There was also a requirement for a balustrade and gate to prevent seals from the sea coming up the stairway and onto the highway. All these things combined made this a really urgent project.
Moddex was contacted by the North Canterbury Transport Infrastructure Recovery to supply and install a handrail to remove these risks to the public and sea-life.
Products/configurations used on project:
Tuffrail – TR20
Connectabal – CB30
Why was Moddex product selected?
Moddex was selected due to the speed, accuracy and efficiency of our installations. Our modular, pre-configured solution meant our product was delivered to site flat packed, with all that was needed for installation was a battery-operated hand drill. The need for heavy tools and machinery which is essential for traditional welded systems was eliminated, resulting in installation being 30% faster than any other barrier system.
