Main contractor: Southbase Construction
Architect: ASC Architects
Project Background
Wakatipu High School, located in the beautiful surrounds of Queenstown was built to cater for 1200 students. With the forecasted roll growth in the area, the Ministry of Education made the decision to expand the school to cater for up to 1800 students.
Multi-purpose-built temporary teaching spaces were delivered to the site prior to the major expansion works, to allow the work to take place with reduced disruption to teaching and learning for the students and teachers.
Moddex worked with Southbase Construction to design, supply and install our handrail systems to the temporary school blocks.
Why was Moddex selected?
Compliance
At Moddex, compliance and safety are non-negotiable values, intrinsically built into our systems and the way we operate.
Our engineer conducted a detailed evaluation of the handrail design and provided our client with a PS1, meaning the main contractor and the architect could feel confident our handrail systems were designed and manufactured to all relevant building codes and standards.
Trusted supplier
At Moddex we have been a part of some of the largest projects in New Zealand, leading the supply of quality, compliant balustrade and handrail systems. With a proven track record of successful school projects for the Ministry of Education, Moddex has gained an outstanding reputation for our ‘turn key’ mode of operation, optimising efficiency and securing compliance every step of the way for every one of our projects.
Less time on site
Our pre-engineered systems are designed and manufactured offsite, and then delivered to site as a flatpack. This meant installation was easy for our client, with minimal time on site. No welding on site meant no hot works permits, toxic fumes or site shutdowns.
Moddex had good communication and [worked] around multiple changes and configurations on site to get the job done! Simple and adaptable proprietary system.
