Project Background:
Cassowary Coast is enjoying the new $7.1 million sports facility, officially named ‘Tully Grandstand’. Made possible through a combination of grants from both the State and Federal Government, Council budget and early financial contributions from local sporting organisations the facility was completed in November 2020.
Previously home to the Percy Pease Grandstand, which had served the community since the 1930’s, the new undercover 600-seat stadium is built to exceed the National Rugby League standards for a regional facility. The new facility will not only be an economic driver, attracting events to the region but continue to strengthen community spirit.
The grandstand also boasts a commercial kitchen, bar, canteen and several meeting and function rooms.

Why was Moddex product selected?
A product compliant to C5 Crowd Loading Standards and easy to install was a critical factor for the project. Moddex was the perfect fit for this project, due to our pre-engineered designs.
Designed with stadiums and grandstands in mind, the proprietary Moddex Conectabal® Commercial Balustrade system was installed to help mitigate and eliminate falls from elevated areas. Assistrail® Disability Handrails were also used throughout the facility to ensure open access and compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
Due to the regional location of the project, the product also needed to be shipped direct to site. The modular nature was a perfect solution for the client as we could supply everything flat pack.
The client (WIP Construction) could also see the advantages of our intelligent two-phase design process. We provided total peace of mind that the product would come together seamlessly on site. By utilising our design process and installation drawings the client was able to self-install the product with ease with onsite construction teams.
