Project Background
This $30 million dollar, 160 bed new residential aged care facility was completed across two stages in 2015 and 2016.
Grindley Constructions were engaged by The Whiddon Group to build stage one of the New Sir David Martin Residential Aged Care Facility. A linkway on two levels connects the Sir David Martin building with the existing Taylor House. The facility includes a basement carpark, landscaping to the courtyards and external areas, concrete footpaths and an asphalt driveway.
Grindley were also engaged for stage two of the project which involved the demolition of an existing building to make way for the extension of the New Sir David Martin building constructed in Stage One.
Moddex was involved in both stage 1 and 2 of the project supplying the client handrail solutions for the fire stairs, external stairs, ramps and walkways, and plant deck.

Why was Moddex product selected?
Our systems were specified by the Architect at initial design stage, and we were able to offer the builder a competitive hand railing package price with fast lead times.
We are able to work closely with Grindley Constructions providing flexibility around timing to ensure seamless delivery and installation.
The two systems installed; Assistrail and Tuffrail, are pre-engineered and pre-configured ensuring they are compliant with Australian Standards, DDA and BCA.
