Project Overview
The Rainbow Silo Tourism Development is a new landmark project centred on the historic Llew Schilling Silo, extending the region’s well-known Silo Art Trail. Moddex was engaged by Onley’s Holdings Pty Ltd to supply handrail and balustrade systems for a newly constructed tower and multiple viewing platforms within and alongside the silo.
The Challenge
The handrail and balustrade needed to follow the curved geometry of the viewing platform while maintaining compliance and visual consistency. With high visitor numbers and an exposed outdoor setting, the systems also needed to be durable and integrate cleanly with the tower so the architecture and artwork remained the focus.
The Moddex Solution
Moddex supplied 287 metres of pre-engineered access systems including Conectabal CB40 balustrade to the stairways and CB10 balustrade around the curved viewing platforms, providing consistent edge protection throughout the structure. Assistrail AR150 offset wall-mounted handrail was installed along stairways, fixed directly to the wall to suit the tower layout. All systems were finished in hot-dip galvanised coating to support long-term durability while maintaining a clean, unobtrusive appearance.
