Project Background
The $1.75 billion Regional Rail Revival program – a joint initiative of the Australian and Victorian governments – includes upgrading every regional passenger train line in Victoria. The recently completed Ballarat Line Upgrade was designed to deliver much-needed extra services for growing communities along the line, creating the infrastructure for extra peak and off-peak rail services to accommodate Melbourne’s outer west and Ballarat.
As part of the Ballarat Line Upgrade, Moddex was contracted to provide handrails and balustrades for 3 new-build stations – Rockbank, Bacchus Marsh and Cobblebank – and for level crossing replacements, pedestrian overpasses and underpasses. We created custom designed kit-form modular systems using components from our Moddex Assistrail ranges. Over 1 km of Moddex Tuffrail industrial handrails were installed alongside the track between stations.
Why was Moddex product selected?
As an experienced and low-risk partner with a history of successful projects in transport infrastructure such as the Abbotts Rd Level Crossing Removal Project, LendLease knew they could trust Moddex to deliver. With a narrow timeframe in which to complete the Rockbank station project, Moddex brought in extra teams to ensure the project was successfully completed within scope, on-time and on-budget. Often being one of the last trades onsite, we’re no stranger to pressure, but we always exceed on our delivery, as our client well knows, thanks to our modular capability.
